Good news today regarding my sleep apnea

My pulmonary doctor called me today and told me my sleep study test results from June 9th, '07 were good. That evening, I got to try out the CPAP machine. What the results showed him is that my breathing is very good with the machine and I will be able to use one at home. Yay!! I already checked with my insurance company and I know it is fully covered.

I can't wait to get restfull sleep again and start having more energetic and productive days!! Yes!!!

I can't forget to mention my "Hunny Bunny!"

Here is my wonderful hubby Kevin. I took this pic while we were hiking around Canyonlands National Park in Utah last summer.

I am so fortunate and blessed to have him! (More important, I am forever gratefull to his sister Karen for introducing us to each other!!) He has incredible patience for me and my times of insanity. I've already reminded him of the fact Dolores will be in her teenage years soon and I will be approaching menopause! lol...

Beer seems to soothe him....... :))

My Official "Before Pic"

There I am....in Hawaii, at the Hawaiian Volcanoes National Park on the Big Island, wearing my biggest pair of shorts I own! The baggier the better! I tried to hide under baggy clothes but it just quite didn't do the trick as you can see! Plus I was feeling so sluggish, the three of us could only go on the bus tours during the onshore excursions. Yea....being on a bus with a bunch of old people is very sobering. Kevin and I would meet other couples our age who would share their port experiences with us, talking about about hiking or mountain biking....you know....adventures! But, since I was in such lousy shape, we were relegated to the "back of the bus...."

The picture was taken on January 5, 2007....eleven days before I went to Weight Watchers. The cruise was a trip of a lifetime but I will always use it as a reminder of how I felt being out of shape.

There IS light at the end of the tunnel.....really!!

Hello friends!! Well, I have jumped into the "blogging pool." Some friends have inspired me (yes Brian and Saquina!) as well as the movie "Bridget Jones' Diary." What I loved about the Bridget Jones character is she is so open and honest with herself, she told herself the whole and sometimes ugly truth.

So I am going to take "Bridget Jones" one step further. This blog will be my online journal but I am also going to share my journey and experiences in my quest for health, vitality, lost pounds and cuter clothes with all of you. Honestly, it makes me a bit uncomfortable...baring my soul and doing the vulnerability thing has never been a character trait for me! But I guess the sharing with help me and maybe even help some of you out there as well.

Soooooo....you may be wondering why I labeled this blog "There IS light at the end of the tunnel!" Let me 'splain......Some of you know I have been battling some health issues this year. The list is: obesity, high blood pressure, asthma, chronic pain in my left hip and I have just been diagnosed with sleep apnea. I have a bunch of prescription medications (dammit, not even the fun ones!) and I will be getting a machine to use at night to help me sleep. I know, I know it could be worse. But on January 16, 2007, just 5 days after I returned from a 15 day Hawaiian cruise (aka a 15 day food fest!), I walked into Weight Watchers weighing a whopping 257 lbs!! But I am happy to say I have lost 30 lbs!! The light at the end of the tunnel is there! It's faint but I can see it!! And I am ready to take this trip to the next level!!

I am not going to lie and say I am not frustrated because sometimes I have my moments. But thank goodness I have my wonderful hubby Kevin and the first person that saved my life, Dolores to get me through the hard times. I do have MANY things in my life that are good, such as being married to Kevin, being Dolores' mom, my awesome sis (sister in law) Karen, my Mary Kay business and MK girlfriends and being part of the Long Beach Grunions swim team. Of course all my trainig and education I got from Landmark Education helped make many of these good things possible. These things make up for the other stuff.

I am convinced the light is at the end of the tunnel especially because I had my annual check up today with my doctor. I'll spare all the details but my lab results, specifically my cholesterol numbers were normal. Yay! And my blood pressure was good too. I am turning "the corner!" Also, I am turning the corner because I am taking responsibility for the poor choices I made up until this year. There's the light, it's dim but getting brighter.....I SEE IT!!!

Well I will wrap this up. I am sure everybody's first post is a long one. If you are still reading, thanks for being patient!!

Ok everyone.....fasten your seatbelts, put on your crash helmets (those of you who have been passengers when I drive know this!) because this ride is about to TAKE OFF!!

Hugs and kisses,
Liz B :))
